The Ma drone Tree has shiny red bark,white urn shaped flowers,shiny dark evergreen leaves, and festive multicolored red Bernese.
Ma drones attain heights of 80-125 ft and diameters of 24-48.
Where the Madrone Grows
The Madrone Tree grows on rocky, well drained soil,oriented torward the south or southwest, in areas that provide enough sun.
British Columbia,south through the lowlands of the cascades and sierra Nevada.
Edibility
Ma drone trees provide edible berries. Ma drone berries are dried and grind ed.
When Ma drone berries are dried, they become hard and crunchy and ready to eat.
Medical Uses
Chewing the leaves treated cramps and stomachaches. Many tribes used an infusion of Madrone bark to treat sores on the skin. The Pomo made tantic tea from the bark that was used to wash sores.

The largest Ma drones may become 400 years old of age. The trunk and branches of the Ma drone are wrapped in bark that peels away in summer, revealing a lighter tan underneath.
